Woburn's got a good number of runners signed up for the Half-Marathon this year. Check out who's running from the city.

WOBURN, MA—While thousands run the historic Boston Marathon every April, many take to a different route to run the challenging half-marathon on Oct. 9.

The B.A.A. Half Marathon, which is 13.1 miles, is presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, "highlights the beauty of Boston and Brookline's Emerald Necklace park system while furthering the Boston Athletic Association's mission of promoting health and fitness.

As with the Boston Marathon, runners train in memory of loved ones. They run for causes. They run for health. They run because to challenge themselves.

The 13.1-mile, rolling course is an out and back route that runs along the Emerald Necklace park system. The B.A.A. Half Marathon begins and ends at White Stadium in Boston’s Franklin Park. The park, one of the oldest in America, is located in Boston’s Jamaica Plain and Dorchester neighborhoods.
With a start on Pierpont Road, the course proceeds out of Franklin Park, along New Washington Street and Forest Hills Drive, and past both the Arnold Arboretum and Jamaica Pond as The Arborway becomes The Jamaicaway. The course then passes Willow Pond and Olmsted Park, before the turn around point on The Riverway 4.75 miles into the race.
On the return, runners hug the western side of the Emerald Necklace, with Leverett Pond, and Jamaica Pond now on the left. The race re-enters Franklin Park and loops around animal enclosures in the Franklin Park Zoo, before finishing on the track in White Stadium
