After 2-Year Sabbatical, Local Dentist Reopens Practice in Woburn
Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates Dr. Kevin Mooney's Return to Woburn
WOBURN, Mass. (January 23, 2020) — To celebrate the reopening of Mooney Dental, Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin and State Rep. Rich Haggerty joined Dr. Mooney and his staff Thursday, January 23 for a ribbon-cutting at his Cedar Street practice.
A native of Woburn, Dr. Mooney ran his practice from 1989 until 2017 when he sold his successful practice and embarked on a sabbatical to volunteer with several dental missionaries - both nationally and internationally.
“He had a tremendous business, sold it and went away to do some really good things,” Mayor Galvin said. “He's a great community guy. If anyone asks him for something, he's always there to help. It's just really good to have someone like him back in the business community. I know he'll do great things and we're really happy to have him.”

When patients return to Mooney Dental, the doctor isn’t the only familiar face they will see. Many of Dr. Mooney’s experienced and compassionate staff members have also returned to the practice to provide the best dental care possible.
Dr. Mooney is a cum laude graduate of Boston College and Georgetown University School of Dentistry. He received advanced training in all the dental specialties during a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding professional service and Commanding Officers Award for Clinical Excellence, an award given to the best clinician in a Dental Clinic with 75 General Dentists and Specialists.

After completing his tour of duty, Dr. Mooney returned to Woburn in 1989 and was selected as “Best Local Dentist” in the Greater Woburn area for 20 consecutive years from 1997 to 2017 and was in Boston Checkbook Magazine multiple times for “Boston Area’s Best Dentist.” He is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, Eastern Middlesex District Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry.
