Bruins Draft Woburn Native Riley Duran
The Woburn native forward and lifelong Bruins fan was drafted in the sixth round, Wednesday.
WOBURN, MA — Woburn native Riley Duran, 18, was drafted by the Boston Bruins, Wednesday afternoon.
Duran, a forward, was drafted 182nd overall, in the sixth round. A lifelong Bruins fan, he played for Woburn High as a freshman before spending a year at Malden Catholic and closing out his high school career at Lawrence Academy.
As a member of Woburn Memorial High School's boys' hockey team, Duran was coached by his own dad, Jim Duran.

"It couldn't have worked out better with such a great organization," Duran said in a statement. "Tons of history. From the day I was born, I was a Bruins fan and still am now. I'm just so excited to be a part of this organization…my brain is still twisting right now. It's really just a dream come true."
Duran watched the draft from Ohio, where he is set to play for the junior hockey USHL Youngstown Phantoms. He is committed to play at Providence College starting in 2021.

Duran said he looks forward to coming home.
"The town of Woburn is always a close town and everyone knows each other, it'll just be awesome when I'm back home," Duran said.
In 2019-20, Duran earned 44 points in 27 games at Lawrence Academy. He has also played for the Cape Cod Whalers.
