WOBURN, MA — The Walgreen's on Main Street in Woburn's South End is one of 200 the chain said it would close. But CVS is eyeing the 15,000-square-foot space and has filed a special permit application with the city to take over the storefront once Walgreen's exits. Walgreen's, meanwhile, is looking to move to a new space closer to Woburn Center.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission last month, publicly-traded Walgreen's said it was reevaluating its real estate foot print. In addition to close 200 of its 9,600 stores, Walgreen's is looking for opportunities like the one in Woburn, where move stores to a better or cheaper location.
