English At Large Celebrates Local Volunteers

EAL is pleased to acknowledge the service of local volunteers who make a difference in our community!

English At Large is pleased to honor the service and commitment of hundreds of local people during National Volunteer Appreciation Week. This year especially, their service has been a lifeline for local immigrants with limited English skills, giving them the skills and support they need to provide for themselves and their families during COVID-19. We thank them for stepping up and often well outside their comfort zone to learn the tools and technology they needed to deliver high-quality instructional programs in a virtual world. Our volunteers are the heart of our mission, and their service makes our world a better place for all people.

English at Large is a nonprofit organization that provides individual and small group instruction through a volunteer network to adult immigrants who want to acquire English language skills as they adapt to life in the United States. This past year 179 local volunteers provided more than 5,000 hours of instructional service to 415 English language learners in 21 communities in Greater Boston.

We are proud to celebrate the inspirational service of our volunteer Tutors, Conversation Group Facilitators, Career Access Lab Group Leaders, Intake Assessors, and Board and Committee Members, whose continued commitment to the success of our learners makes a difference every day!
