Ex-Council President Lindsay Higgins Named Woburn City Clerk

The city council voted unanimously to name their former colleague to the office Monday.

WOBURN, MA — Former City Council President Lindsay Higgins was named the next city clerk Monday.

The City Council voted Monday to appoint their former colleague to the office. Higgins was the unanimous pick in a meeting that lasted minutes.

Higgins resigned from the council March 2, less than a year after she was elected president. An attorney, she was first elected to the council in 2015.

Higgins stepped down with the intention of applying for the city clerk position, the Daily Times Chronicle reported.

Former clerk William Campbell was selected Feb. 26 to lead the state's Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

The Woburn city clerk is the city's chief election official, handles agendas and minutes for the City Council and other boards and maintains information including birth, marriage and death records.
