Large Gas Leak At 249 Lexington Street, First Responders On Scene

Residents should avoid the area, the firefighters union said.

UPDATE: The gas leak was cleared and the road reopened as of 11:38 p.m.

WOBURN, MA — There was a large gas leak around 249 Lexington Street, the Woburn firefighters' union said Thursday afternoon. Residents should avoid the area.

Firefighters, police and Eversource were all on the scene addressing the leak.

The street was closed from Four Corners to Waltham Street, police said.

The road was still closed as of 3:30 p.m., as Eversource worked to contain the leak.
