The resident who was attacked posted in a residents Facebook group Monday about the incident. Guruprasad Krishnamurthy wrote that he was attacked by a stranger around 2 a.m. March 29 in his North Woburn home. After he opened the window and he and his wife shouted for help, the intruder fled out the back door of the home, he wrote.
Krishnamurthy spent a week in intensive care and required surgery among other medical attention, he wrote. He is still recovering.
"I am not sure this incident should be ignored, suppressed and treated as negligible or a one-off incident," he wrote. "I personally believe people need to know what happened in their community. An incident such as this is the tip of the iceberg to create awareness for others to safely secure their houses and protect themselves from any such unknown dangers in the near future."
Krishnamurthy has since moved across the country, in a pre-planned move; tey had already rented a house before the incident.
Rufo said that the police are still investigating the attack but they have no leads or suspects as of Thursday. The police searched surrounding streets, canvassed neighbors and looked for security footage, he said.
Rufo said the victim has not cooperated with the police investigation, echoing what Mayor Scott Galvin told Samantha Stone on Today In Woburn Monday.
Krishnamurthy said he and his family cooperated with the police.
