Rio Olympics 2016: Woburn Resident to Compete in Rifle Shooting
A Woburn native will travel to Rio De Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games.

WOBURN, MA—A Woburn resident will travel to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil as a part of the 2016 USA Shooting team for the 2016 Olympic Games.
Sarah Scherer, 25, will be making her second Olympic trip in 2016, having competed in the 2012 Olympics in London. She took 7th place in the Women's Air Rifle in 2012, and will be competing in the 10m Air Rifle competition, according to TeamUSA.org.

Scherer graduated from Texas Christian University after being being homeschooled. She is returning to shooting after a debilitating lower back injury which put her out of training and competition for a 15-month span in 2014 and 2015.
Scherer also works as a registered dietitian. Her hobbies include Latin and American ballroom dancing, clay crafts and jewelry making.
