USS Maine Cowl To Undergo An Upgrade
A piece of American history on display in Woburn is getting a proverbial bath.

Back in 1898, America flew into a nationalistic fervor when they thought Spanish forces had destroyed the USS Maine in a harbor in Havana, Cuba. As a result, we got the Spanish-American War.
Later, it turned out the Maine probably sank due to an internal combustion and the Spanish had nothing to do with it.
None the less, Woburn’s proudly displayed the Maine’s ventilation cowl at Woburn Common for many years. In light of the city’s upcoming 350th anniversary, the artifict shall undergo a maintenance upgrade, according to a report from the Daily Times Chronicle.
