Waxy O'Connor's Closes Woburn Location

With the Woburn location gone, the chain has just one restaurant remaining in Greater Boston.

WOBURN, MA — Waxy O'Connor's, a chain of Irish pubs, closed its Woburn location, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. The closure appears to be abrupt, as the restaurant's Facebook page includes a post from Saturday about its new menu and an entertainment schedule listing events through April. There was no answer when Patch called the restaurant Tuesday afternoon.

The Woburn location opened six years ago off of Montvale Avenue in a building that previously housed Spud's. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based chain, which once had five Boston-area locations and a sixth planned for Assembly Row in Somerville, now has just one location in Lexington. The company also continues to run restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, Keene, New Hampshire, Plainville, Connecticut and San Antonio, Texas.
