What's Open, Closed On Presidents Day In Woburn

Presidents Day is Monday, which means some businesses and other services will be closed.

WOBURN, MA — The 136th Presidents Day will be celebrated on Monday. That means sales at local businesses, school vacations and some holiday closures.

The holiday dates back to 1885, founded to celebrate the February birthday of president No. 1, George Washington. Today, it's used as a celebration — if you want to call it that — of all U.S. presidents from Washington to Biden.

  • Retail stores: Open.
  • Liquor stores: Open.
  • Supermarkets: Open.
  • Convenience stores: Open.
  • Taverns, bars: Open.
  • Banks: Closed.
  • Stock market: Closed.
  • Municipal, state, federal offices: Closed.
  • Libraries: Closed.
  • Schools: Closed. Winter recess through Feb. 19.
  • Mail: Post offices closed; express delivery only.
  • MBTA: Commuter rail is on a normal winter weekday service schedule. The subway, bus and RIDE systems are on a Saturday schedule.
  • Trash Collection: Delayed one day (Monday picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday picked up on Wednesday, Wednesday picked up on Thursday, Thursday picked up on Friday and Friday picked up on Saturday).
