Woburn Halloween 2020: When Is Trick-Or-Treating?

The city does not set trick-or-treating hours, but residents are encouraged to take care not to spread the coronavirus.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn does not set official trick-or-treating hours, but the annual activity is not canceled. The city is leaving it up to residents, but encouraging caution.

Anyone who doesn't want to participate should leave their outside lights off. Trick-or-treaters should only approach homes with outside lights on.

The city encouraged residents to take precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. Rather than handing candy directly to trick-or-treaters at the door, you can set up a table outside with individually-bagged candy for children to take.

The city asked residents to avoid the following higher-risk activities:

  • "Having trunk-or-treat where treats are handed out from trunks of cars lined up in large parking lots
  • Attending crowded costume parties held indoors
  • Going to an indoor haunted house where people may be crowded together and screaming
  • Going on hayrides or tractor rides with people who are not in your household
  • Using alcohol or drugs, which can cloud judgement and increase risky behaviors
  • Traveling to a rural fall festival that is not in your community if you live in an area with community spread of COVID-19"

Additional Woburn police officers will be out patrolling on Halloween, officials said.
