Woburn Mayor Surprises Woman on 103rd Birthday

A 103-year-old Woburn resident received a pleasant birthday surprise on Friday.

Mabel McWhinnie celebrated her 103rd birthday at the Woburn Nursing Center, according to a press release from Salter Healthcare. During her celebration, McWhinnie was surrounded by family and friends and was surprised by Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin.

Less than one percent of all people live to be 100 years old, according to the release. McWhinnie had spent her whole life as a Wakefield resident until recently moving to Woburn. She likes to play bingo, watch romantic movies, listen to music and visit with her extended family including her children and grandchildren.
