Woburn Opens Football Postseason At Masconomet On Friday

WOBURN, MA -- Woburn Memorial High School's football team, which finished the regular season at 4-3, was seeded fifth in the MIAA's Division 2 North playoffs. Woburn will open the eight-team tournament Friday at 7 pm when they travel to play Masconomet Regional High School (5-2) in Boxford.

If Woburn were to win Friday's game, they would advance to play the winner of Lincoln-Sudbury (7-0) and Reading (3-4) on either November 3 or November 4 at a time to be announced after the four first round games are completed.

The MIAA switched to a playoff format in 2010. The state semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of November 17 and 18, whith state championship games scheduled for December 2 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. For more on the state football tournament, see the MIAA football Website.
