Woburn Residents Push Back Against Chick-fil-A

A proposed drive-thru could add traffic to the already congested Washington Street area, say some Woburn residents.

A proposed drive-thru component to the Chick-fil-A in the Woburn Landing Project is proving controversial and unpopular with residents of East Woburn, according to a story in the Daily Times Chronicle.

The source reports that at a recent City Council meeting, Ward 5 Alderman Darlene Mercer-Bruen asked the rest of the council to put the kibosh on Chick-fil-A altogether, and nearly a dozen current and former Woburn residents in attendance spoke out against the fast food chain.

Specifically, they’re worried the drive-thru would add traffic to an an area that’s already too dense with automobiles.

“The people of East Woburn need a break,” said former Woburn resident Chris Porter, according to the source. “People are just getting crushed over there.”

The Woburn Landing Project - masterminded by Madison Properties - will consist of a 250-room hotel and three restauants off Washington Street, should they get the necessary permits.
