Woburn Updating Hazard Mitigation Plan, Seeking Public Comment
The Mayor of Woburn presented a draft of an updated hazard mitigation plan for the city.

The City of Woburn has been working to update its hazard mitigation plan and is seeking public comments and suggestions regarding the current draft.
The City’s Planning Department has been working recently with a number of department from around the City of Woburn and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) to update the hazard mitigation plan, the city said.
The City of Woburn said each municipality in the state is encouraged to develop a hazard mitigation plan to assist local officials in planning for natural disaster and for dealing with the results of them, as well. Having an updated hazard mitigation plan ensures the City will continue to be eligible to apply for grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

FEMA requires hazard mitigation plan drafts be presented to the public and encourages public feedback and input on the draft. The Woburn draft plan was presented to the public at a Planning Board meeting on Tuesday, June 23. The plan is also available to read online.
Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin encourages residents to provide comments and input on the draft plan. According to the City of Wobur, any comments and suggestions can be sent to Tina Cassidy, c/o Planning and Redevelopment Authority Office, City Hall, 10 Common St., Woburn, Massachusetts, or to tcassidy@cityofwoburn.com by 5 p.m. on July 10.
