WOBURN, MA — Salem Street Bridge will be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles in both directions Saturday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to a release shared by state Rep. Richard Haggerty Friday. Massachusetts Department of Transportation crews will be installing "steel beam stringers." The MBTA Lowell Line will also be closed for Green Line extension work; shuttles will replace service between Woburn and North Station until Monday morning.

The release continues, "Traffic will be detoured as follows: eastbound traffic will be detoured via Montvale Avenue. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Washington Street. Work will continue until the installation of the steel beams stringers is complete and is expected to be completed by Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Following the installation, the bridge will be opened to vehicular traffic in both directions."

This is part of ongoing Phase 2 work of the bridge construction, replacing the bridge's middle section.
