The Palace Of Auburn Hills Will Be Demolished This Fall: Report
Here's what will go at the location next.
MICHIGAN — Michigan is officially losing an arena packed with some 30 years of history. The Palace of Auburn Hills, where the Detroit Pistons’ used to play and summer concerts rocked the Metro Detroit area, is going to be demolished.
The Detroit Free Press reported its demise is coming this fall. The Pistons organization announced it Monday, explaining that The Palace has been sold to a joint venture involving team owner Tom Gores and Livonia-based developer Schostak Brothers & Co. They plan to redevelop the roughly 100-acre property as a mixed-use office park, Freep reported.
The first event ever held at The Palace was a Sting concert in 1988. The last was a Bob Seger concert in September of 2017. The Pistons stopped playing there in the fall of 2017, but management kept offices inside the building.
