Recreational Marijuana Nets $1.6M In Michigan's First Week

MICHIGAN — Early numbers show the recreational marijuana businesses to be a big hit in Michigan.

The first eight days of recreational marijuana sales in the state netted more than $1.6 million, WDIV reported, of which $200,000 in tax revenue was generated.

State officials estimate that marijuana sales will generate nearly $950 million annually once fully established.

The report said most of the five shops selling recreational marijuana the first week of business sold out or had limited supplies.
