7-Year-Old Boy Dies In Drunk Driving Crash In Clinton Township

The boy's father was reportedly drunk during the time of the single-car crash, police said. He has been arrested.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A drunk driving crash has killed a 7-year-old boy, police said.

Clinton Township Police said the boy's father, a 32-year-old from Sodus, NY, was driving in the right-hand shoulder and went through an intersection and hit a traffic pole while traveling eastbound on Hall Road and Heydenreich just after midnight on Saturday morning.

The driver sustained multiple injuries in the crash and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash, but no other information has been released. The driver is in custody.

The Clinton Township Police Department is continuing the investigation and requests any witnesses to the crash or anyone having information pertinent to the crash, to contact Det. Sgt. C. Madajczyk at (586) 493- 7890.
