Avenue, Women’s Plus Size Store, Closing All 13 Michigan Stores

The clothing store has more than 200 locations across the country.

MICHIGAN — Avenue, a plus-size women’s clothing store, is closing all of its U.S. locations, according to Hilco Merchant Resources, the company carrying out the liquidation. The company will be closing all 222 stores in 33 states.

Clothes, shoes and accessories at the store are currently discounted leading up to the closings. The store sells plus size clothes in sizes 14-32.

Hilco did not specify when stores would close.

The brand has 13 Michigan stores, including in Dearborn, Clinton Township and Troy.Find all 13 locations here.

“Avenue shoppers will be amazed not only by the incredible savings, but also by the great selections and styles available at the closing sale,” Hilco said in a press release. “Given the popularity of the brand and the seasonal trends, merchandise is sure to sell out quickly. We are encouraging consumers to shop early and take advantage of these offers.”

According to Coresight Research, which tracks store openings and closings in the U.S., major retailers have announced more than 7,500 closings in 2019, which exceeds the total stores closures of over 5,500 in all of 2018.

Coresight said specialist apparel stores like children’s clothing store Gymboree, women’s retailer Dressbarn, Charming Charlie and Charlotte Russe have contributed to a majority of the closings.
