Macomb County Woman Stabbed At ATM

A 23-year-old Kentucky man has been charged in the stabbing that took place at a Chase Bank ATM.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A 23-year-old Kentucky man faces a felony charge after a woman was stabbed during a robbery at a Chase Bank ATM last week in Macomb County.

Zachariah Thornton, 23, of Bowling Green Kentucky, was charged Friday with assault with intent to rob while armed by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities say the man admitted to being the suspect in the robbery that sent a 41-year-old Shelby Township woman to the hospital.

The stabbing happened around 8 pm. Nov. 11 outside a Washington Township Chase bank, when the woman was trying to retrieve money from the ATM. Several bystanders helped the woman after she was stabbed and suspects say the suspect fled on foot.

Thorton was arrested on Nov. 21 for unrelated charges, police said.

He was arraigned in the 42-1 District Court of Romeo on the above charge Friday and was given a bond of $100,000 cash/surety.
