Pool Season Is Now Fully Underway In Dearborn

Dearborn is making waves with the opening of three more neighborhood pools. Here's everything you need to know to make a big splash.

DEARBORN, MI — It's time to make a splash in Dearborn as pool season gets into full swing. Mark your calendars for June 14-15 when three neighborhood pools open.

Ten Eyck Pool will open Friday, June 14, featuring open swimming daily from 1-6 p.m.
Beginning Saturday, June 15, Lapeer and Summer-Stephens will open, also offering open swimming daily from 1-6 p.m.

Dunworth Pool, which opened May 25, offers open swimming weekdays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-6 p.m. through June 13. Dunworth Pool will host the prestigious U.S.S. Swim Meet June 14-16, and consequently, will not have open swimming these three days. Spectators, however, are welcome. Starting June 17, Dunworth Pool will feature open swimming weekdays from 1-8 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 12-8 p.m.

Ford Woods Pool, which has undergone deconstruction and a complete rebuild—resulting in a more modern and expansive facility with additional amenities—is scheduled to open later this summer.

Lapeer, Summer-Stephens and Ten Eyck Pools are scheduled to close for the summer August 11 at 6 p.m.

Beginning Aug. 12 and continuing through September 2, Dunworth Pool will offer open swimming weekdays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day from noon to 6 p.m.

City officials say to check with the specific pool for more information concerning its schedule of operation.

Pool tags: What you need to know

All swimmers must either pay a daily admission fee or purchase a seasonal pool tag.

At Dunworth, the daily admission fee is $9 for Dearborn residents (proof of residency is required) and $11 for non-residents. At the other outdoor pools, the cost is $6 for residents and $9 for non-residents.

Pool tags, good for admission to any of the outdoor pools during the 2019 summer pool season, are available for purchase at the service desk of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center weekdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Six types of swim tags are available. Infants under age two are free.

Preschool, $35. Parents must present a copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency.
Youth (ages 17 and under), $55. Must present school-issued ID card.
Adult (ages 18-59), $65. Must present proof of residency.
Senior (ages 60 and over), $55. Must present proof of residency.
Family (both parents and all children under the age of 18), $135. Proof of residency for parents and a birth certificate for children are required.
Non-Resident, $120.

Pool tags must be sewn on swim suits or towels prior to admittance. Pool tags are good for admittance to the outdoor pools only; not the indoor pools at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.
