Which Stores To Get The Best Black Friday Deals At

Here are your top 10 stores with the highest Black Friday discounts around. Happy holiday shopping.

MICHIGAN — With Black Friday sales starting earlier and many retailers offering even deeper price cuts this year, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2018’s Best Stores for Black Friday.

The company found that the verall average discount for Black Friday is 37 percent. Consumers should aim for this discount amount or higher to avoid Black-Friday traps, the report said.

WalletHub surveyed nearly 7,000 deals from 35 of the biggest U.S. retailers’ 2018 Black Friday ad scans to identify the stores offering the biggest discounts in various product categories such as “Appliances,” “Jewelry” and “Toys.”

Here is where you can find the highest discounts:

  1. Belk (none of these in Michigan, but they do have a website): 68.91%
  2. JCPenney: 65.13%
  3. Stage: 62.08%
  4. Kohl’s: 60.76%
  5. New York & Company: 54.52%
  6. Payless ShoeSource: 50.34%
  7. Dick’s Sporting Goods: 49.94%
  8. Macy’s: 48.74%
  9. Fred Meyer: 45.30%
  10. Shopko: 45.23%

While Belk had the highest overall discount, True Value was found to have the lowest on Black Friday, at only 16%. Other popular Michigan stores were Meijer at just under 40%, Target at just under 35% off, and Wal-Mart at almost 30% off. Amazon came in at 29.3%.

Ace Hardware, Big Lots and Sam's Club ranked towards the bottom in savings.

The biggest share of discounted products goes to the apparel and accessories category in most stores, according to the report. Books, movies and music tend to have the smallest discounts, the report found.
