DTW Reopens After Completely Closing In Icy Conditions

The Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday after closing Tuesday evening due to icy conditions.

METRO DETROIT, MI — Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday after it closed down Tuesday night due to icy conditions.

Flights have not been going in or out because of the ice and snow starting Tuesday evening and some passengers have slept at the airport overnight, according to reports.

Here is a statement from the airport Wednesday morning:

"Detroit Metropolitan Airport remains closed this morning due to icy conditions. Maintenance crews have been working around the clock. They are making progress as the weather begins to improve; however, it is too soon to determine when DTW will reopen."
