Good News Motorists: I-94 In Detroit To Remain Open This Weekend
The good news is, the normal closure that detours traffic on I-94 in Detroit is cancelled. The bad news is, it's because of torrential rain.
METRO DETROIT, MI — Well Metro Detroiters, there's good news and bad news.
The good news is that the detours you normally take each weekend around Detroit as crews repair bridges are not needed this weekend. That's because of a large amount of rain expected to pour onto Metro Detroit this weekend (read that full forecast here).
Typically, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close eastbound and westbound I-94 between US-12 (Michigan Avenue) and I-96 which allows work at multiple locations, including a railroad bridge near Livernois Road, concrete form removal near Warren Avenue, and steel repairs on the 24th Street bridge.

By closing the entire freeway to perform work at multiple locations, work crews with safer work zones and help them complete the work in a faster and safer manner, officials said.
The work should resume next weekend. .
