Metro Detroit Saw 100 Crashes Overnight Due To Icy Roadways: MSP

Michigan State Police are warning drivers Wednesday morning of slick conditions as we exit a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing drizzle.

MICHIGAN — Michigan State Troopers have had a busy night as a Winter Weather Advisory left southeastern Michigan’s roads icy and slippery.

Troopers sent multiple tweets about the calls, including that they had responded to some 100 crashes on freeways and nine townships since midnight.

"Our calls for service are through the roof. And one patrol car that was hit by a citizen that was driving too fast! Take it easy people," a tweet said.

Police are warning drivers to take it easy Wednesday morning as conditions may still be somewhat hazardous. The National Weather Service warned particularly about the dangers of overpassses, bridges and exit ramps.

MSP said some of the “hot spots” including I-75 downriver and I-94 in Detroit.
