Describe your art: Oils, Soft Pastels, and Charcoals. Portraits/Pets, Landscapes, Still Life, and Florals.

How did you get started as an artist?: I’ve been practicing nursing for 34 years so far. I’ve been a Director of Nursing, Professional volleyball player, and a volleyball coach (Club and HS). Drawing and painting off/on since 1999.

A Self-taught artist, I’ve practiced weekly rendering drawings from live models for a few years, or by reading books by Schmid or Brown. I’ve taken a handful of workshops by artists I admire: Carducci, Szabo, Eagle, Helle, Cunniff, Benoit, Edmundson, Gloss, and Cornish. Recently, I’ve been taking classes at the Flint Institute of Art under Tim Widener.
