Be Closer to Arts & Culture in Downtown Fenton Saturday July 11

How did you get started as an Author?: I always loved telling stories from the time I was young. I used to tell my brother bedtime stories. I would also write and illustrate my own books. I constantly journaled, and wrote short stories in high school and in college. My professors encouraged me to become a writer. I began penning my first novel, Forbidden Sky, when my children were toddlers, but I had a couple false starts before I could get the entire story out of my brain and on to paper. Finally, in 2013, I published my first novel, Forbidden Sky, followed by Cloud City V. Zombie Apocalypse, and then Escape Dead Sky.
Describe your work: I would describe my work as the Written Word. My current novels are dystopian fantasy with an edge, tossed in with a nice mix of sci-fi, and elements of a love story. You can find my books at Fenton’s Open Book, amazon, kindle, Barnes and Noble, nook, iBooks, and you can order them at any book establishment such as Books-a-Million.

What is your next project?: I am working on some very exciting projects. I recently started an anti-bullying movement called Love without Labels. It is an initiative where everyone can give, no matter what circumstance, acceptance and love. You can find it on www.facebook.com/projectlovewithoutlabels. I have been working on it for over a year. I also penned two books, a novel and a children’s story, to go with the initiative. They are really very special to me. Unfortunately, I do not have a release date for either of my new books, but for now I am going to promote my movement along with my current novels which have elements of characters being bullying.
Do you belong to any Writers organizations?: I am involved in several online writing groups through linkedin. It is a great way to stay active in the community. I also enjoy going to book fairs and art fairs and connecting with local authors. I mentor budding authors who need advice or support.

My travels have inspired me tremendously. I love learning about other cultures, and taking in the world. Many stories have surfaced from my adventures. My house in the woods also inspires me. Lastly, obviously, my family, especially my two young daughters. They are very special, and have a big place in my heart.
