Baby Girl Died After Babysitter Held Her Down in Scalding Bath Water
Breeze Macha Henke, 18, was charged Friday with manslaughter and child abuse in connection with the 7-month-old relative's death a year ago.

A Pontiac woman is accused of holding down her7-month-old female relative in scalding bath water last year, leading to the girl’s death, according to a Detroit Free Press report.

Breeze Macha Henke, 18, was charged Friday with manslaughter and child abuse. Bond was set at $250,000, and her court date is Aug. 25.
Oakland County prosecutors claim Henke became angered with the girl while babysitting her Aug. 8, 2014, because of a dirty diaper, the report stated. That’s why she pinned her relative in the tub under water that would have reached up to 158 degrees Fahrenheit, the report added.

The child, who had 2nd-degree burns on the child from the waist down, was hospitalized in critical condition before dying, the report stated.
Originally, Henke told investigators she started the giving the girl a bath and became distracted, the report stated. Another child then came into the bathroom and turned up the hot water in the tub, the report added.
