Fenton Man Wins $1M In Powerball Lottery Game

FENTON, MI — Winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Powerball game left a Fenton man jumping for joy. Edmond Nicaj, 41, matched the five white balls draw Wednesday – 24-26-28-59-63 – to win the big prize.

He bought his winning ticket at the Great Lakes Family Restaurant, located at 963 South Grand Avenue in Fowlerville.

“I buy a Powerball ticket every once in a while, and it really paid off this time,” said Nicaj. “I checked my ticket the morning after the drawing, and couldn’t stop jumping around.

“My kids heard me and came running upstairs to check on me and then they started jumping around. My six-year-old asked me how many zeros would be on my check.”

Nicaj visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize Friday. With his winnings, he plans to pay bills and set some money aside for each of his six children.

“Winning feels good because it helps. It takes away so much stress and pressure,” Nicaj said.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.

The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
