MCC is creating good vibrations for the community with the launch of its Summer Vibes series starting June 29 and running through Aug. 13.

“The ‘Summer Vibes’ events are a gift from the College to the community as we emerge from a very challenging and difficult time,” said MCC President, Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea. “MCC has a long history of being a catalyst for community connections, and now that it is becoming safer to gather again, we are thrilled to re-engage with the community by hosting these free events.”

Summer Vibes kicks off with FREE Basketball inside the Ballenger Field House for men and women aged 16 to 40, offering two options, Open Gym on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 PM to Midnight, and Wednesday from 9 to 10 PM; and the MCC Summer League on Wednesdays from 10 PM to Midnight. “We wanted to provide healthy, constructive recreational opportunities for young people as part of our Summer Vibes series,” Walker-Griffea said.

There is no pre-registration necessary for the Open Gym sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Players are welcome to drop in anytime. Late night basketball will include free pizza, water, pop and prizes.

The MCC Summer League will feature 12-person, co-ed teams. Registration is required for league play. Contact 810-762-0417 or email kevin.tiggs@mcc.edu to register or for more information.

Other Summer Vibes events will include drive in movies on July 23 and Aug. 13, and a fun-fest and concert July 30 in downtown Flint.
