Reality Star Robbed in Detroit; Disagrees With Cops Over Details
Nicole Curtis of "Rehab Addict" and Detroit police offer conflicting reports about what happened Labor Day in a downtown garage.

The host of a cable TV reality show was the victim of a robbery and—depending on the source—an attempted carjacking over Labor Day in Detroit, according to conflicting reports on her Facebook page and media outlets.

Nicole Curtis, who stars in the HGTV show Rehab Addict, which documents home restorations, described the sequence of events Sept. 7 at a downtown parking garage in a Thursday Facebook post:

“I was with my family this week. A black SUV was parked running in front of our vehicle when we approached our car. As we were loading into the car, one of the passengers jumped out of the black suv, jumped INTO my driver’s seat -went for keys (they were with me outside passenger side) they then grabbed my large work bag NOT purse from where they were sitting in my car. It contained my laptop and several other items. Jumped into the black SUV and drove off. …

This contradicted reports in The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press, which claimed the suspect never tried take the car and only grabbed a purse sitting on the front seat through an open window. Both articles cited separate officials at the Detroit Police Department as the sources for this version of events.
One thing all the reports do agree on: No one was hurt in the incident.
In a Facebook post from Wednesday that has since been deleted, Curtis, who’s from Lake Orion, said the crime made her “question every single thing I have going on in my life.” She also warned the suspect that “if you get caught -i’m [sic] coming to meet you,” so that she can understand why he did what he did.
