Vigil Set for Fenton Teen Who Died From Complications After Flu
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Vigil and funeral services have been set for a 15-year-old Fenton resident who died Saturday after being hospitalized with flu-like symptoms.
after falling ill during Christmas break.
“It was just the perfect storm,” Joshua's father Dave Polehna told the Flint Journal. “I probably wouldn’t have lasted that long, but I would trade spots with him in a heartbeat.”

Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Church, according to Sharp Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 West Silver Lake Road in Fenton. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation will also be held 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
Joshua was active in the marching band, track, robotics and the St. John Youth Group.
