Metro Detroit: How To Get A Discounted Lyft Ride St. Paddy's Day

These local police departments are giving out coupons for partygoers this St. Patrick's Day weekend, up to 50% off.

FERNDALE, MI — Ferndale Police and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to help the Irish (even for a day) party safely. They’ll be distributing Lyft ride credits in the form of physical green coupons to area Irish pubs and directly to those in need of rides.

The coupons, which will be valid up to $15, will be imprinted with a Lyft promo code and are valid March 16, 12:01 a.m. to March 17, 11:59 p.m. Partygoers in need of a ride home in Metro Detroit Saturday and Sunday can use promo code PROHIBITIONDTW to get 50% off one ride, up to $8 maximum credit, on behalf of Budweiser’s new Non Alcoholic brand Prohibition Brew.

“St. Patrick’s Day is a festive time, but too much ‘celebrating’ causes problems,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. And, Bouchard knows first hand, having as a younger officer personally policed a triple fatality accident on St. Patrick’s Day, he added. “It is crucial that individuals know their personal limitations and realize that while alcohol consumption is their own decision, once they get behind the wheel, it becomes a public matter. Our patrol units as well as alcohol enforcement team will be out in force to keep the streets safe.”

St. Patrick’s Day is a social occasion where alcohol is served generously, his office said Friday. Bouchard reminds locals that the rate of alcohol-impaired drivers increases around St. Patrick’s Day, and wants the public to know that the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is increasing their patrols and looking for individuals who may be drinking and driving. Individuals wishing to enjoy the holiday would be wise not to drink and drive.
