Arrest Made In Flint Face Mask Shooting Case: Prosecutor

Prosecutors accuse Brya Shatonia Bishop, 24, of interfering with efforts to find Larry Teague and Ramonyea Bishop, who remain on the run.

FLINT, MI — A fourth person has been accused in the case of a Flint Family Dollar store security guard who was shot and killed after telling a woman she needed to wear a face mask while in the store.

Prosecutors charged Brya Shatonia Bishop, 24, with tampering with evidence, lying to police and accessory after the fact to a felony. Bishop is the sister of 23-year-old Ramonyea Bishop, who prosecutors said shot and killed Calvin James Munerlyn, 43, Friday.

"We continue to work hard day and night to see justice through in this tragic and senseless killing," Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement.

Munerlyn, prosecutors said, had told 45-year-old Sharmel Teague to wear a face mask while in the store due to concerns surrounding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Prosecutors allege that after an argument, Teague left the store. Later, Teague's husband, Larry Teague, and Ramonyea Bishop returned to the store, prosecutors said. That was when Ramonyea Bishop shot Munerlyn in the back of the head, killing him, prosecutors said.

While Sharmel Teague was arraigned this week on felonies, Larry Teague and Ramonyea Bishop remain on the run, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, Brya Bishop engaged in activity that interfered with efforts to find Larry Teague and Ramonyea Bishop.

"Brya Bishop's attempts to shield family members will not be tolerated and we will likewise hold anyone else involved in offering shelter and assistance to Larry Teague or Ramonyea Bishop accountable under the law," Leyton said.
