GSID : Genesee Career Institute Digital Art, Design & Broadcasting Team Wins Gold At National Conference

07/01/2021

– “I am so very proud of the hard work, grit, and tenacity that each of these ladies demonstrated to finish this competition during a pandemic,” said Michael Crawford, GCI Instructor and SkillsUSA Advisor. “They are all the best of the best, and now have gold medals to show for all of their focus, practice, detailed and hard work.”   As part of the contest, teams were challenged to use their creativity to interpret the 2020-21 SkillsUSA national leadership theme, Empowered to Succeed. The GCI team applied a four-step design process including research, visualization, design, and production. They created a bulletin board from thumbnail sketches to finished digital files. Once designed, it was printed, mounted, and assembled. The team also created a formal report about their creative process, outlining the career skills they learned working on the project. They then presented the final product to a panel of judges.
