Flint Deputies Deflect Knife Attack After Sheriff’s Office Break-In
A man smashed the glass windows of the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and attacked deputies, the sheriff said.

FLINT, MI — A man is in custody after he broke into the lobby of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office in Flint early Sunday morning and began attacking deputies with a knife, authorities said. No one was injured and deputies were able to subdue the man, but not before he damaged a kiosk and vending machines in the lobby, Sheriff Robert Pickell said.
Three deputies were attacked when they responded to the sound of breaking glass and other commotion in the lobby, Pickell said, according to a report by Flint television station WJRT.
The man, whose identity wasn’t released by the sheriff’s office, also damaged the Genesee County Circuit Court building before breaking into the sheriff’s office and attacking deputies, Pickell said. Pickell said that if the incident had occurred on Monday, when more people would likely have been in the lobby, someone might have been injured. The sheriff’s office is typically closed on Sundays.
