Hurley Medical Center CEO Melany Gavulic, RN, MBA, will deliver the commencement address for MCC 2021 virtual graduation ceremonies to be video-streamed on Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. To watch the MCC virtual commencement ceremony, visit https://youtu.be/Z1n8cWpiZy8
Approximately 800 students at MCC are eligible to graduate this year. (Eligible means the students have completed or are within two classes of completing degree requirements). Graduating students have registered to participate in the virtual commencement celebration. Students were invited to pre-register for the ceremony and submit a photo to be included in the video roll call of graduates. All students’ names will be included in the list of graduates and in the graduation program found at https://www.mcc.edu/acad_affairs/aa_commencement.shtml

“It is truly an honor to have Melany Gavulic as our Commencement speaker this year,” said MCC President, Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea. “Her connection to the college runs deep as an alumnus from our Nursing program and as a 2019 MCC Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient. She is a shining example of the MOTT Strong ideal of doing your best and using your skills and talents to make the world a better place.”
Gavulic will reflect on her experiences at Mott Community College and what it brought to her life both professionally and personally. She will offer graduates congratulations and encouragement on achieving their degrees during a pandemic.
Gavulic has served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Hurley Medical Center since February of 2012. Before this appointment, she served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Hurley Medical Center, where she was responsible for operations, nursing and all patient care services. Gavulic has a wealth of health care experience, serving in leadership roles within Hurley Medical Center over the last 21 years.
As a results-oriented professional with a proven track record of collaborative working relationships with physicians, staff, colleagues, and external customers, she has been successful in developing and facilitating teams that have positively impacted quality outcomes, demonstrated performance improvement, enhanced delivery of services and created effective community partnerships.
She received her BS Degree in Management Systems in 1991 from Kettering University (formerly GMI Engineering & Management Institute), an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Mott Community College in 1997 and an MBA from Baker College of Graduate Studies in 2005. She received her Registered Nursing License in 1997.
