Alarm Alerts Grosse Pointe Farms to House Fire
The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety doused a second floor fire at a home where residents were present but did not know about the blaze.

Grosse Pointe Farms firefighters doused a blaze at a home in the 90 block of Merriweather March 3 after being alerted to it by an alarm.
Officers arrived at the home shortly before 11 p.m. and talked with the residents, who were home but had no idea why the alarm alerted public safety of a fire. They reported having a fire burning in the fireplace earlier in the night but told officers it had been out for a while.
The officers switched into firefighting mode, checked the house and found heavy smoke on the second floor and in the attic, spurring them to evacuate residents from the house, according to a report.
