Authorities Investigate Threat At Royal Oak Middle School

Royal Oak Middle School asked police to investigate threatening social media comments against the school.

Royal Oak Middle School asked police to look into threatening social media comments last weekend. After seeing comments that seemed to threaten the school, Principal Todd Noonan said he asked Royal Oak Police to investigate. Police found no credible threat against the school, and no classes have been canceled.

There will be a police presence at Royal Oak Middle School, according to Fox 2 Detroit. A school in Milan did close Monday, after receiving more serious threats which are being investigated by Michigan State Police. In the wake of the Parkland school shootings on Feb. 14, there has been a wave of threats or perceived threatsagainst schools across the country.

In 2016, Royal Oak Middle School made news when students in the cafeteria chanted “Build the wall,” and later, when a noose was found in a bathroom stall, just days after the election of President Trump.
