Beaumont, Grosse Pointe Classic Raises More Than $200,000
Support for Cardiac Care at Beaumont, Grosse Pointe
On Monday, June 24, the Grosse Pointe Classic held at the Country Club of Detroit raised $206,000 to benefit the renovation of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Beaumont, Grosse Pointe. Landmark Healthcare Facilities and Flagstar Bank were among the sponsors supporting the event.
More than 200 participants enjoyed golf, pickleball and a Chicago-style bridge tournament followed by cocktails, a strolling dinner, gifts and prizes. There was also a silent auction with 41 packages that brought in more than $7,000 for the fundraiser. Powell Corbett and Julie Kaiser, both of Grosse Pointe Farms, were the 2019 event co-chairs.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, causing 600,000 deaths annually. Cardiac catheterization allows physicians to conduct a multitude of diagnostic tests and perform corrective procedures including angioplasty; identifying and correcting congenital heart defects; checking the function and viability of heart valves; and implanting cardiac pacemakers.
