Find Grosse Pointe’s Cheapest Thanksgiving Gas Prices

You'll want to fuel up before heading out of town for the holiday

Gas prices matter, especially for your Thanksgiving Day travels. If you’re crossing the metroplex, or making a truly long haul, knowing where to find the cheapest gas in Metro Detroit will make things a little easier on the big day. While gas prices just outside Detroit metro are pushing $3 a gallon, there are far better deals to be had if you fuel up closer to home before hitting the road.

Gas prices in Michigan have dropped in the last year by an average of about 20 cents a gallon, according to Gas Buddy. The Pointes have a few deals, though Krausmann Service Center, a repair place occupying a prime piece of real estate in the Village, as one of the only full-service stations in the area, can't beat big-name prices. There aren’t deals there, but the old-school treat of full service isn't something you find just anywhere. There, you’ll pay close to $4 a gallon for the privilege of staying in your toasty-warm car while someone else fills ‘er up.

For the budget-minded and hardy, let’s hope the price trend continues into December, making Christmas travel a little be sweeter. Despite this good news for Michigan motorists, local prices, especially just outside Detroit, are going as high as $3.19 a gallon this Turkey Day Eve, so finding a deal before you hit the road can net you savings heading into the holiday.
