Grosse Point Symphony Opens Applications For Strings Section
The application should show years of study and playing of the instrument, auditions will take place Mar. 4.

From The Grosse Point Symphony: The Grosse Pointe Symphony would like to extend an invitation to all players of string instruments in the greater metropolitan area to submit applications for an audition. Applications will be accepted during the month of February.
The application should show number of years of study and playing their instrument, teachers with whom they have studied , orchestras or other ensembles in which they have played. Recommendations from teachers, orchestra and band directors can also be included.
The recommendations should fully identify the source and their affiliation. Applications must also contain all contact information: full name, address, telephone and email.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 4 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. The orchestra is looking for all string instruments. At the present time the wind sections are full but openings for the next season may come up. Woodwind, brass and percussion players can also audition for the orchestras substitute list.
Additional players are needed from time to time when larger orchestra works are programmed and to cover absences of regular players who are unable to make a rehearsal or concert for a variety of reasons.

Auditioners should be prepared to play a selection (a movement from a concerto, sonata or a recital work) of their choice that will demonstrate not only their technical abilities but also their interpretive skills. Teachers are welcome to post this notice in their schools and studios.

Players will be notified as soon as possible before the audition date if they have been accepted and to arrange audition time. This information can also be found on the Orchestra's home page: gpsymphony.org.
