Grosse Pointe Gators Bring Home State Swimming Honors
Fodell is Coach of the Year; Jacob Montague is Swimmer of the Year in Michigan Swimming.

(Originally published on Oct. 10, 2016) GROSSE POINTE, MI — Michigan Swimming, in its first year of handing out awards, recognized two Grosse Pointe Swim Club members at the Michigan Swimming House of Delegates meeting in Lansing. John Fodell was named Michigan Swimming 2016 Coach Of The Year and Jacob Montague was named Swimmer Of The Year. Nominations came in from around the state, according to Swimming World magazine.
The nominees were voted on by the Michigan Swimming Board of Directors along with the Athlete’s Committee. Fodell and Montague received their awards at the annual Michigan Swimming House of Delegates meeting in Lansing, according to Swimming World.
Michigan Swimming is the local governing body, responsible for organizing, supporting and governing USA Swimming‘s clubs in the state. USA Swimming is the governing body for competitive swimming in the United States, and sponsor the U.S. Olympic Trials every four years.
