Grosse Pointe North to Host Planetarium Night
Grosse Pointe North and L'Anse Creuse North high school astronomy clubs are joining up to offer a community "Comet Con" night Friday March 15 with a planetarium show and mini-workshops ideal for children in grades 3 to 7.

The astronomy teams from Grosse Pointe North and L'Anse Cruise North high schools are putting a fun, educational evening ideal for children in grades 3 to 7 that is open to the community Friday.
The event, named Comet Con, will feature a planetarium show every 30 minutes plus mini-workshops, a comet art contest, face-painting and photos with the Comet Con mascot, according to a press release.
There will also be a dry ice Comet demonstration and observing with telescopes and binoculars after 8 p.m., weather-permitting, with specific information about Jupiter, the moon and more.

A trivia contest and spelling bee will also be offered, with a preview of the words to be used in the spelling bee.

Registation will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Grosse Pointe North's cafeteria and the event will open at 5 p.m.
A Grand Pass is available for full participation in all workshops and the planetarium show for $5, otherwise the event is free with a $1 entry fee to attend one of the planetarium shows.
In addition the events, a bake sale with refreshments will be on-going during Comet Con.
