Grosse Pointe Park Fitness Center Closes For Coronavirus Concerns

Someone who visited the Meade Fitness Center between Dec. 28-30 has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to city officials.

GROSSE POINTE PARK, MI — People who visited the Meade Fitness Center between Dec. 28-30 are being contacted after a patron at the center reported that they had tested positive for the coronavirus, city officials said late Tuesday.

The city said in a Facebook post on Tuesday that out of caution, it would be temporarily closing the Lavins Activity Center until Monday. Facility employees will be tested for the coronavirus and the building will be entirely sanitized and deep cleaned prior to reopening, according to the city.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Grosse Pointe Park has been home to 419 positive COVID-19 tests. Eight Grosse Pointe Park residents have died due to the coronavirus, according to data provided by the Wayne County Health Department.
