GROSSE POINTE, MI — The national school rating service K12niche.com has recently released a list of top schools for 2017, in numerous categories. In the safety category for 2017, the Grosse Pointe public school district came in 10th place.
Niche analyzes data from the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Census and FBI plus more than 60 million student and parent reviews and survey responses. Factors included in the safety study are:
- Parent/Student Surveys on Health & Safety (50% weight)
- Expenses per Student (10% weight)
- Student Absenteeism (10% weight)
- In-School Suspensions (7.5% weight)
- Out-of-School Suspensions (7.5% weight)
- Expulsions (5% weight)
- Law Enforcement Referrals (5% weight)
- Percentage of students arrested for a school-related incident (5% weight)
