Heavy Rainfall Possible in Metro Detroit as Cold Front Moves Through State

Thunderstorms aren't expected to be severe, but they could produce heavy rainfall over the next three days.

METRO DETROIT, MI — The metro area could get some heavy rainfall today, but the chance of severe storms is slight, the National Weather Service said in hazardous weather statement.

Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and tonight in the counties of Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Livingston, Washtenaw, Lenawee and Monroe.

The thunderstorms tracking west to east at 20 mph “have the potential to generate locally heavy rainfall,” the statement said.

Chances for thunderstorms continue Thursday and Friday as the cold front slowly sags through Michigan.

Today’s high is expected to be around 82.
